and they told us it didn't snow in Richmond.

When Kyle and I moved to Richmond in the summer, we were told by the natives that even though Richmond does experience 4 seasons (which excited us), that it hardly ever/never snowed here. Now, it is only Feb 1 and we have scraped over a foot of snow off of our car not once, but TWICE! LIARS :)

back... finally

Over the last 4 weeks, I have been home 5 days. All the travelin' seeing family and touring was great but I am happy to be home again... showering in my shower, sleeping in my bed... ahhhh the life.

Just saw this on RVA the other day, we are the dang soundtrack! too cool! This just happens to be from the show where Jana was in town too!

pow-wow

Last weekend K and I went to a pow-wow. What a cool thing, I can't believe that I have never searched this out before. I think we stood there for 4 hours with our mouths wide open. The costumes, and the dancing and the singing, and the drums OH the drums. I still have the beat in my head, and it's been a week. Here is a little video I made of some of the dancing and with a recording Kyle caught on my iphone.





I was a little camera shy... but I did manage to get a couple good ones.



Ok, see the little boy on the left side? This image was taken during the singing/drum competition, and this little guy was competing along side these men. He watched the caller like a hawk to be sure he was singing the right thing, I have never seen anyone put as much heart and soul into singing. When they finished the song he did a little fist bump with all the men.

beach house... my inspiration

I absolutely love this video for Beach House and their song Used to Be. It's a package deal, the color, the mood it creates, and the fact that it makes me create a little tear every single time I watch it. THIS is what made me want to try to make a music movie... and as soon as my video camera (which was handed down to me from my little brother in a non-working condition) gets back from the Canon shop (barring any ridiculous fixing charges) I will set forth in my attempt to do so.
